The Plight of the Very Hungry Caterpillar

Thanks to Aunt Cheri for the fabulous Hungry Caterpillar rattle -- Sophia loves it! It is so fun to see her grasping things now. She is a very exciting little girl. The pediatrician said she is going to roll soon since she has such good tone. She's a big girl! But don't be fooled; it's all muscle! ;) She is now just over 15 lbs.

Pensacola

Well, we had a wonderful trip to Pensacola where Sophia met her Babikows for the first time. The weather was very nice and mild for our Greater Gulfcoast Arts Festival outing. It was really crowded, but fun to see all the artwork.
We had dinner at Skopelos where Sophia got lots of attention, particularly from her second cousins who were enamoured with her tiny features and funny looks, and of course her burps and pukes (apparently they are very funny and gross).

Sophia thoroughly enjoyed being held all the time by her Nonna; Darby occasionally got jealous, but when Sophia cried she got very concerned. Sophia has also perfected the pouty lip -- it had its grand debut in Pensacola. Also since our trip to Pensacola Sophia has become more and more vocal. She loves to talk and have conversations with us, smiling her sweet smile.

Things have been going well in the Schultz household since we got back. We tried to help Sophia learn to sleep at night by driving at night on the way down to Pensacola, but it didn't really alter her pattern. That said, things have been improving at night; she is less squirmy and sleeps sooner, so that is a definite blessing! Also, she seems to be getting better and better with her reflux problem -- we are so thankful!

We are also anticipating a fabulous trip to Lexington, Massachusetts, for Thanksgiving. Sophia can't wait to visit her family and meet Uncle Dan! The flight will probably be a bit challenging, but we'll get through it! We are just excited for Turkey Day at Pa-Pa and Ne-Ne's!

Chattahoochee River Park

Today we went out with Uncle Andy and Aunt Kelly to walk and enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery of Atlanta's great outdoors -- the leaves are changing and the sun brightens them to golden tones. Lady came along (Andy and Kelly's baby -- a Great Dane puppy) and splashed around in a creek while we admired the spot and laughed mirthfully at her clumsy puppy run. Sophia slept pretty much the entire time, but I am sure she liked the feel of the fall weather all snuggled up with her mommy in the "baby bjorn."

We worked up an appetite and wound up eating at a Willy's Mexicana, Sophia joining in the fun with some glorious Alimentum formula. I was holding her at my shoulder when we heard something fall to the floor followed by an "uh-oh" from a little girl behind me. It turned out that the "something" was a little puddle of puke courtesy of Sophia Wyona -- just a little demonstration of her projectile talents. Happily enough, it didn't land on me, and Matt quickly jumped to the scene to clean up after our little joy. It was a very funny event though as it didn't occur to any of us that it was her spit-up; it had sounded more like the fall of a pacifier. Then Matt, Sophia, and I all traveled home for a good night's rest after a blissfully tiring day.

Puke or Treat!

Matt and I decided that Sophia's best trick would be her excellent puking abilities, so we modified her trick or treating address to express that great (and ofttimes frightening) talent. Last night we went out with our Egets for some fun and a little candy. Sophia had more of a Halloween outfit than a costume, and she was mostly cuddled up next to Daddy in the snugli wrapped in a cozy blanket. It was a very cool night, but refreshing and very fun to see all the kids in costumes -- particularly the very little ones being wheeled around in wagons! All the families of one cul-de-sac all got together at the entrance to it and had a little communal gathering while they passed out candy -- I thought it was a great idea. Bella was also dressed for the occasion with a cute, albeit bothersome, tu-tu. All in all a good night with leftover candy for ice cream making later on!
